Lots of Glasgow families have lived in the same streets for generations. The close where they grew up. The school round the corner. The chair Grandad always sits in.
Filming at home means all of that is right there. The photos on the wall become prompts. A walk past the window turns into a story about the tenement across the road. People relax because they’re in their own space.
We filmed Moira and her daughter Gill in their family kitchen, making the Bolognese Moira is known for. As they cooked, the talk drifted to growing up, not having much, and how Grandad met Gran. Food just does that.

How far is your studio from Glasgow?
Our studio is in Motherwell town centre, at Brandon Works, 52 Merry Street, ML1 1JJ. It’s around 20 to 30 minutes from Glasgow city centre by car, depending on traffic.
Is a tenement flat big enough to film in?
Almost always. We only need room for a couple of chairs, a light or two and the cameras. We’ll chat it through on a free call before the day, and if space is tight the studio is always an option.
Can family who’ve moved away watch it?
Yes. Every film comes with a private family link that anyone can watch and download from for 30 days, wherever they live, plus a USB in a keepsake box.
